Miss M's newest chore is to fill up Kenzie's food dish each day. She is so diligent about checking the dish and informing us (with a big "Uh Oh") when it is empty. Again, I hope this helpful spirit continues for many years to come!
Every new day is a blessing. We want this blog to be a place to celebrate something special that happens each day.
SAT - 5.30
Don't be fooled...Miss M looks like she loves playing in the sprinkler. In reality, the fact that she cannot control where the water goes does not bode well with her. It took a long time to get these smiles.
THURS - 5.28
These shelves have been sitting in our storage room since we removed them from the wall at our old house and moved in here. I never thought about hanging them in the downstairs bathroom until just recently. After hanging them today I can't believe I waited so long!
WED - 5.27
We finally got around to painting the mailbox (which was looking rather pathetic) and planting some flowers in the flower box. It looks so much better!
MON - 5.25
While I was out with some girlfriends tonight I received this video from Corey in which Miss M sings a version of a song that we sing each night to her. It melted my heart to hear her sing that she loves me over and over again. "I love Mama, I love Mama, I love Mama!..."
SUN - 5.24
Miss M decided that drawing with the chalk on my legs and her feet was much more fun than drawing on the cement. Both of us were covered with chalk but her smiles made it worth it.
FRI - 5.22
I think the theme this summer is going to be bubbles. We just can't get enough of them and mom can't get enough of these smiles!
THURS - 5.21
Miss M just loves a perfect pear. There was juice all over her and the table but that didn't stop her.
TUES - 5.19
This was the announcement we put on Facebook letting the world know that Thomas Baby #2 is a little girl. Miss M is getting a little sister. We have so much fun taking these photos tonight. Miss M couldn't believe that she was going to be allowed to put paint on mama's shirt. Like I said before, we all can't wait to meet her. Now we just need to figure out a name.
MON - 5.18
We had our ultrasound this morning! Little one is just a little longer and chunkier than Miss M. All is looking well. I can't believe how far ultrasounds have come in just a short amount of time. We have video footage of Baby #2 yawning, twisting, and moving all around during the ultrasound. I could have sat there all day watching. We are so thankful for a helpful report!
SUN - 5.17
The amount of work required to get this yard looking presentable is crazy but at least we have three of us working on it this year. Miss M is always so willing and eager to help with everything. I hope this servant spirit never fades!
SAT - 5.16
Today we got to spend some quality time with family. Miss M and her cousins always have the best time together!
THURS - 5.14
I had to take the day off of work today so that they could measure for the granite install (which isn't going to happen for another four weeks). I was also able to do some tile shopping. These are just a couple of options but I think it is going to be a long process. I have no idea what to pick!
WED - 5.13
I went to check on my baby girl tonight and it struck me just how big she is getting. I think we are going to have to really consider moving her to a big girl bed soon. Where has my little girl gone? I love that she is getting bigger and bigger but it is happening all too fast!
TUES - 5.12
Miss M and I decided to have breakfast at the bar for the first time this morning! I have the feeling that we are going to get a lot of use out of this.
MON - 5.11
Corey took the day off on Friday to spread ten yards of mulch as part of my Mother's Day gift. This is also part of my Mother's Day gift. I love beautiful flowers on my front porch. Thanks babe!!!
SUN - 5.10
Is this a glimpse of the future or a blast from the past? Our membership to the Children's Museum has totally been worth it this year!
SAT - 5.9
I can't believe how big her eyes are sometimes! Saturday morning cartoons have her complete attention. Curious George has been her favorite for months now. I think both mom and dad have the first 6 seasons almost memorized!
FRI- 5.8
Grrrr! The poison ivy is back! It is so close to the base of this tree that we have had the hardest time getting rid of it. Most of what we pulled out last year has been cleared but this one section right in the middle of the front garden bed keeps coming back!
WED - 5.6
We are nearing the end of swim lessons. Miss M had to go in fully clothed today to make sure she would be able to figure out what to do if she were ever to fall in accidentally. It is something I never would have thought about practicing but it makes total sense. I am so thankful these classes were recommended to us.
TUES - 5.5
The hole in the wall looks a little more finished and the kitchen island is in. Some of the cupboards have been delayed but the kitchen is starting to come together. I don't know when the granite is going to be installed so I guess the wooden countertops are going to have to work for now. I have been impressed that the remodel has not interrupted our life that much. Other than being without a dishwasher for a couple weeks (waiting for the new one to come in) and the microwave for a few days, we have had full access to all of the appliances. Our contractor also understands Corey's preference for cleanliness (having lived and swam together in college) and has done a great job keeping the mess to a minimum. Hopefully I feel this great about the process at the end. I am starting to doubt, however, that the project will be completed before the end of the school year.
SAT - 5.2
FINALLY!!! We have found our granite. We have been searching a couple weekends a month since the end of January for granite for our kitchen remodel. Most of the time we haven't been able to find a piece that we liked. When we have, each of the pieces have already been spoken for (one just minutes before we did). It have been a very time consuming and frustrating process but it is now done! We have our piece...now on to the tile backsplash...
FRI - 5.1
Tonight we were able to head to the local park for the first time of the season. I was impressed that Miss M was willing to walk on the sand (gasp!) this year. She has not been a fan of sand very much thus far in her life. The swings and hanging from the bar were still her favorite activities.
